For Whom The Bell Tolls (« Pour qui sonne le glas » en français) est la piste 3 de l'album Ride The Lightning. Elle est également disponible sur l'album live S&M. En concert, le bassiste joue un long solo de basse avant de commencer la chanson. Elle est l'une des chansons préférées des fans.

A savoir que l'un des riffs de cette chanson est repris de la chanson Jack The Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots du groupe anglais Black Sabbath sur l'album Paranoid sortie en 1970.

La chanson à également été reprise dans le générique de début du film "Bienvenue à Zombieland" sorti en 2009.

Ce titre a également été repris dans l'EP Tulimyrsky du groupe de Folk metal finlandais Moonsorrow, sorti en 2008.

Creeping Death est une chanson de Metallica, la septième piste de leur album Ride the Lightning. Elle décrit les Dix plaies d'Égypte (Exode 12:29), du point de vue de l'Ange de la mort. La chanson dure 6 minutes et 36 secondes. Creeping Death est aussi la chanson de Metallica la plus fréquemment jouée en concert, ayant été jouée environ 1 100 fois depuis 1983, plus que tout autre chanson de Metallica^[1]. C'est un exemple classique du style thrash du groupe, bien que plus lente que les chansons de Kill 'Em All. La partie centrale, basée autour du cri « Die! », scandé de façon menaçante, associé à une périlleuse progression d'accords phrygiens, est un grand moment de participation des fans durant les shows de Metallica.
